Sometimes you don’t want to move your car or maybe you just want to get out and walk for a little bit before you eat. COVID-19 or not, our favorite place to eat is on the balcony of Anchors A Wave so we love takeout. By eating at home, you can use your own wine or spirits, which are always less expensive rather than buying in a restaurant (for some great recipes for fun drinks to do at home see our post).
There are so many restaurants near Laketown Wharf (in fact three of the ones in this list are in the same building as the condo) that you can order from a different one each day of the week and never have to use your car. Here is the list of the popular ones:
Pineapple Willy’s

Pineapple Willy’s is well known in Panama City Beach and is right across the street from Laketown Wharf (and is our favorite of all the restaurants near Laketown Wharf). We have picked up takeout there a lot and have even purchased their daiquiris to go (the one exception to make drinks at home rule). I really love their daiquiris since they are not crazy sweet and you can buy the cups the first time and then refill them all week for a cheaper price. Our favorite dishes are the shrimp and grits and the grilled shrimp. We call it in to go and then take the short walk across the street to pick everything up.
One note: Pineapple Willy’s does close during the winter months, but it usually opens sometime in March and closes sometime during October/November.
Wicked Wheel

I am sad that I didn’t take any photos of my food from the Wicked Wheel because it is always delicious. I will make it a point to take a photo next time. My favorites from there: I love their chicken fried chicken and chicken pot pie. It is good comfort food. The Wicked Wheel is about a 20 min walk from the condo so it is a nice place to take an easy stroll. This is definitely one of the great restaurants near Laketown Wharf to visit.
Juan Taco

Juan Taco is in the same building as our condo so it is super easy to get to without a car. Their shrimp tacos are so good and they are huge so two tacos are all you need to fill you up! Definitely go for an early dinner since they tend to run out of some of the food before you think they would. We love taking this back up to the condo or eating on the boardwalk with a lovely view of the lake. Sometimes you can even see our resident alligator swimming around the lake.
Lulus

Lulus is another restaurant that is in the same building as the condo. It has burgers, pizzas, and wings, will play live music during the busy months.
The Wharf

The Wharf is also in the same building as the condo and is an all-you-can-eat buffet. It is a great option if you love crab legs. It is only open for dinner and you can dine inside the restaurant or on the tables by the lake. It is a bit on the expensive side, but if you are hungry and love seafood, it can be a great value. There are some to-go options as well which change so contact the restaurant for menu options.
Hungry Howies

When you want pizza or subs, Hungry Howie is a great place to get a quick dinner order. It is very close by, prices are reasonable and is a good take-out option. Our favorites are the Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger Pizza and the Steak Cheese and Mushroom sub. It is usually open until 10 pm so it is good for the late-night dinners and snacks. You can see the restaurant from the front door of the condo, and it is about a 10 min walk.
Hammerhead Fred

This restaurant is about a 20-minute walk and is known for its seafood and live music. We love the Cajun-inspired food such as Shrimp & Crawfish Pasta and Fred’s Fried Shrimp and Grits. Lots of outdoor seating or you can take it to go. There is a great photo op with their shark that is a lot of fun as well.
Saltwater Grill

The Saltwater Grill, which is a 15 min walk away from the condo, is a steak and seafood restaurant with live music events. It can be a little pricey (but great food). Our favorite thing to do here is order takeout from their appetizer menu (less expensive, but still very tasty). We usually go for the appetizer menu to share and order the Firecracker Shrimp, Lobster Spring Rolls, and/or Crab Cakes and then order the Lobster Bisque for each of us (which is amazing).
Guadalajara Mexican Grill

Guadalajara Mexican Grill is a 20 min walk from the condo, and it is a great reasonable-priced Mexican restaurant. They have great margaritas (we love the sunburned frozen margarita) and their food is tasty. Our favorites are the fried lobster tacos and shrimp enchiladas. We love to get both and then share.
Longboard

This is another restaurant that has been recommended, but we haven’t had a chance to try yet. It is only a 20 min walk away from the condo and it serves tacos, pizza, burgers, sandwiches. I can’t wait to try the Blue Crab Cake and Gator Tacos and the Grouper sandwich looks great as well.
